This all woolen mattress creates a comforting and supportive bed by employing the natural benefits of wool. Wool not only absorbs moisture and regulates temperature, it helps to relieve painful pressure points, back pains and arthritis.
The five-inch wool mattress consists of ten layers of thick eco-wool batting and is covered in an organic wool textile. For complete breathability and greater longevity, we recommend the wool mattress be placed on a slatted bed frame. It will compress about 10% during the initial 6 months of use, however, by rotating and airing out regularly, it will last several decades— the woolen mattress can be refurbished (the wool will be re-carded) upon request.
For those who wish to add the benefits and comfort of an additional layer of wool to the mattress, Shepherd's Dream offers the "snugglemate". Consisting of three layers of wool batting, and encased in a soft organic cotton twill shell, the snugglemate provides the comfort and breathability of a natural wool, chemical-free overlay to your mattress. Beyond the additional extra cushion, natural wool helps absorb moisture, as well as regulates body temperature, thus allowing for a deeper, restorative sleep. Made in USA.
