About Wool:
Wool comes from
the Sheep, a truly magnificent creature, which has run from,
aided and befriended humankind for thousands of years. Wool can also be found
on Yaks. Unfortunately, the friendly, do-gooding sheep, has come
under the dark hand of Industrial Farming with horrible results.
It doesn't have to be this way, and isn't everywhere thanks to
small farmers dedicated to natural and ethical methods of raising
sheep.
Wool is a remarkable fiber for
fabrics. When woven tightly together, it becomes water resistant.
wool is also naturally flame retardant. Wool regulates a bodies
temperature very well, without becoming too hot or too cold,
and is an excellent choice for health-conciouss
sleepers.
Wool can be harvested safely
and sustainable from Sheep without shortening their lives. Unfortunately,
modern sheep farming is not so kind to animals, but organic farms
still practice ethical treatiment

Wool consists essentially of
keratin, a type of protein that can link itself together to form
strands, or hair, or wool. Wool is mainly composed of a cuticle
and cortex, with the cortex accounting for the majority of fiber
